Living in the Moment

You know, there's always stuff all around us that trys to fight for our attention.  The cares of the world, society, family, bills, creditors, etc.  The list goes on and on.  There are so many distractions that it makes it difficult to see the road ahead of us, you know?  And there is so much to do in our fast paced lives.  We hustle and bustle about working for this and saving up for that, knowing that if we just do this at this point, we'll be able to enjoy it later on.  But sometimes we get so focused on preparing for tomorrow that we miss enjoying today!
Jesus addressed this issue once in the gospels.  He said in Matthew 6:24, "Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things, Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."  Now, He didn't say not to plan for tomorrow or to even prepare for it, but instead, not to live for it.  People get so focused on what they will yet receive that they neglect the things they already have, including people in their lives.  If you would purpose in your heart to live for today and enjoy today even while preparing for tomorrow, you'll find yourself so much more happy and content.  Jesus said He came to give us life and that life was to be more abundant than what we're currently experiencing.  He didn't just mean "in the sweet by and by" but in the "right here and now."  There is so much joy to experience in Jesus during the CURRENT time of breathing this air, Man!  Don't miss out on it.  God has so much to show you if you'll simply take the time to recognize Him in your current day.
So listen, realize God is not just an "I'll see you in a little while in heaven" kind of person.  On the contrary, He is a "Let's go and explore today while we're on our way to tomorrow" kind of person.  He has so much for you now and bunches and bunches more for you tomorrow.  Take comfort, Friend.  He's got your tomorrow and your today in His hand.  He's already mapped out your tomorrow, so you can let Him take care of it while you continue to be faithful with what He has given you today.

Live!  Live!  Live!  Today!
