Hanging on for Dear Life!

Hey there.  As you may have noticed, the format for the "I've Been Thinking" page has changed.  I'm going to do my best at being more consistent in updating this blog.  I can't promise I'll be successful, but I will do my best.  Anyway...

And speaking of promises, I don't know about you, but I've been given many, many promises during my 45 years breathing this air.  Some of those promises were fulfilled while others fell by the wayside.  Well-intentioned people promised to do something to bless me only to fail at being committed to it.  Hey, Man, life happens.  It's all good.  But sometimes when you get a promise, you yearn for that promise to come to pass.  You find yourself clinging to the promise that was made to you and you really invest a great deal of yourself in the expectation of it.  And you hold on to it so tightly that when challenges and struggles come at you threatening your promise, you fight back with a vengence and just hold on tighter.... for dear life.

Well, God has made a few promises in His word and He "promised" the fulfillment of each and every one of them.  He has made promise after promise and many see them come to pass as they wait patiently for them.  But what happens when you've been waiting and waiting and waiting, and ......?  You just want to quit and you begin to entertain thoughts of being forgotten or overlooked.

Look.  That could not be further from the truth!  Please know that you're not being overlooked, ignored, or forgotten at all by the eye of God.  He, instead, is working for you and for the fulfillment of each and every promise that HE has made to you.  Listen, He's not gonna give up on you ever.  He promised that He'd be faithful to watch over His word to perform it and to bring it to pass.  He promised that He will never leave or forsake you.  For Him to not fulfill His word to you would mean He would become untrustworthy, and He's not about to let that happen.  Instead, He CAN be trusted to come through and make good on what He tells you.

But the question is "Will we put ourselves in the place to be blessed?"  Will you submit to Him and to the processes of waiting?  Stuff happens many times to get you out of position to be blessed.  You can't let that happen!  You've got to hang on to God for dear life in the face of the opposition that stands against you.  You've got to make up your mind that you're gonna believe that God meant what He meant when He said what He said!  Secondly, you must fight for confidence in His character regarding you.  Jeremiah 33:3 says, "...I have loved you with an everlasting love..."  That's His character postion toward you.  You MUST be convinced of His love for you regarding your LIFE, much less the promises made.

Listen, Man.  Hang on to that promise He made to you because sometimes His word is all you have when you're going through tough moments.  DO NOT allow the trial to determine your faith level.  Rather, let your faith determine your trial level.  You do that and you'll see that you were never alone in the first place.  And THAT'S a great thing know.

Keep hanging,

Greg
